In brilliant sunshine and with a moderate but steady breeze blowing tip., from the south-south-west tlie fl()0 ton barqueutinc Gap Pilar, cast off from the Western Viaduct this afternoon, aiid, under her own sail, moved down the Waitewata Harbour and out toward the open sea in continuation of her cruise round the world. Within a few minutes of leaving her berth she had a good press of canvas aloft, and wheft she rounded North Head and turned into Rangitoto Channel she had reached a speed of five knots. Before leaving, Captan Seligman said he and his crew had greatly enjoyed their stay at Auckland, where they received many kindnesses, lie was confident that the New Zealanders who had joined would prove satisfactory in every way, as they were an excellent body of men. Captain Seligman added that his wife and daughter were in excellent health and he was sure the trip would agree with them. From Mangareva the vessel will go to tlie Marquesas group and later to Hawaii and Ban Francisco. She will eventually return to London by way of Panama, West Indies, and New York.
