CAUGHT IN GAMING DEN HOLLYWOOD, August 17. 'Screen stars, producers, and other members of the him colony were among 50 people detained after a police raid on a palatial Los Angeles gambling den. Breaking through the libiaiy, the police found themselves in a magnificent drawing-room. Some of the richly-dressed guests were drinking. Bookmakers were busily engaged taking bets on horse races when the police burst in. All the people found in the room wore subsequently released except two. the supposed proprietors. The raid was part of a gambling “olean-up” begun three weeks ago. Police were galvanised into activity by an attempt to assassinate Les Burneman, proprietor of a club.
