Finishing on splendidly, Refund outstayed the favourite, Sandusky, in the first race for the Wellington Stakes, a classic race for three-year-olds, do cided at the spring meeting of the Wellington Trotting Club at Hutt Park to-day. Two’s Loose, the second favourite, was third, but he was squarely beaten. Conditions were good and there was a good attendance. The track was holding. Results were:—

Nan Nai Handicap—s-3 Debutante 1 ; 4-6 Winnie Parrish 2; 2-2 Indolent 3. All started. Won by three lengths; a length. Time 3.38 4-5.
