AMALGAMATION SCHEME BILL. (Per Press Association —Copyright). WELLINGTON, September 9. The Minister of Internal Affairs (Hon W. E. Parry), said to-day that if tho local bodies could devise a better system of improvement than that provided in the Amalgamation Schemes Bill, it was their duty to make the contribution and not merely to reply in the negative form. It has been suggested that a Rovai Commission should bo set up, he said, but the Bill itself provided for a Commission of Inquiry and gave the Commission complete powers to deal with the findings.
