A prediction that within twelve months the‘business of carrying goods between the principal cities and towns of the Dominion will be conducted under single ownership conditions, was made.}this morning by Mr H. S. Croud), district /traffic manager of railways qt Auckland; when a number of applications for renewal of goods service licenses were bejfore the No I Licensing Authority. The Authority pointed out that short-dated licenses had previously been given operators to enable the Railways Department to negotiate for the purchase of the services, and under the existing conditions, operators had no sense,; of security. He stressed the •desirability of'the Department- expeditingnegotiations for the purchases, so that; the fate of various services-could be. cietermined, once dor all.
