QUAKE IN ALASKA

Lives . were in. danger and thousands of pounds’ worth of damage was caused when earthquake shocks rocked the town of Fairbanks, Alaska,, yesterday. . The shocks began a little after 7 ia.ni., and continued intermittently throughout the day. They were felt over an area stretching for several miles on all sides of Fairbanks,- -which is the,centre of Government activities in central. Alaska. Fairbanks was just recovering from a disastrous flood, which snmberged' parts of. the town for several .weeks.
The earthquake was surprising to old residents. - because Fairbanks is not in the recognised Alaskan earthouake zone. and the shocks sent hundreds of terrified people ino the streets.
