GLACIER LAKE
BREAKS AWAY RAZING FARMS
(United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright).
OSLO, August 11
A great glacier lake breaking, swept down the Simo Valley, Hai'dangerfjord, razing farms and killing stock. The .•’pnroaching roar warned the inhabitants who, barely escaping death, fled up the hillsides, whence they saw their homes destroyed leaving tremendous boulders and ice blocks. The flor-d originated from a glacier from the Hardangerjockelen mountain where hotweather created a new lake under the ice. This pierced the glacier causing an avalanche of millions of tons of water and ice.
