NUDITY CHARGE
A TEST CASE. (Per Press Association-Copyright). WELLINGTON, June 11. The Auckland Domain statue, the nudity in art galleries, undiessed shop window models, and the Man h number i of‘the Auckland magazine, “Health < and Sunshine,” were all discussed- 'in the Magistrate’s Court, when Morris Edward Lehaney; bookseller, pleaded not guilty- before Mr Stillwell, S.M., to ? two charges brought under the-’ln decent Publications Act. Both charge . which were in the'" ntffmfF of atest' S case related to two pictures “Aegean.’ arid “Garments and Nakedness,” in th March number of “Health and Sun shine.” Lehaney was charged with exhibiting an indecent document, th? two pictures named, ‘to the view of the public in his shop window, Wilts Street, and also with selling an indecent document. After referring to the pictures com plained of, the police, in the’r evidence stated that they had tried to procur another copy of the magazine at other booksellers, but were unable to do so as the booksellers had all sold out. Those 'looks and magazines all showed a wider outlook. Mr Stillwell reserved his decision.-
