CONTROL OF TRAFFIC LICENSE FEES (Per Press Association—Copyright). AUCKLAND. May 18. Answering a deputation from Auckland City Council this afternoon, Hon •R. Semple. Minister of Public Works, stated that it had been decided that the City Councils throughout New Zealand should take the control of the taxi telephone systems, and their licensing. In addition, the Munster said, he was going ,to ask the local bodies in the city areas to give over all of the traffic control, licensing, and the collection of license fees and the policing of the roads to the City Councils. In the places outside of these areas, where there was a population of less than 6000, the Transport Hoard would take control. From this source, tm> Transport Department would gain an annual revenue of over £40,000, which would be used for general transport purposes for the provision of roads, and in other ways leading to a realisation of his ideal of the greatest efficiency and the maximum safetv.
