N.Z. TOBACCO
DEVELOPMENT SCHEME. (Per Press Association—Copyright) WELLINGTON, May 14. Plans for the development of the New Zealand tobacco industry and the activities of the Tobacco Board, were discussed by the Minister of Industries and Commerce, Hon D. G. Sullivan. in an interview this evening. Both the Government and the Board he said, were working steadily toward the betterment of the industry. The first essentials in the scheme that is being involved were research into the diseases affecting tobacco le f ■ the payment of wages that would give the workers in the industry a reasonable standard of living; and a fixation of prices that would provide the growers with a fair return for their labours.
