“GALLANT LADY.”
Three leading men, as distinct in physical typo a B in acting temperament appear with Ann Harding in ‘‘Gallant Lady,” her first starring picture for 20th Century Pictures. Each of the trio lays'siego to her heart in his own way, with their elForts ranging all the way from tempestuous wooing to despairing devotion. Clive Brook’s type is symbolic of sincerity and self-sacrifice. Otto Kruger, the New York stage star, who. has bounded into film valour by his sensational performances in “Ever In Mv Heart” and “Beauty for Sale,” exemplifies tenderness, coupled with a quiet devotion and a firmness of will and character. Tullio Carminati, who will be remembered for his work in me Broadway of “Strictly Dishonourable,” and “Music in the Air,” blends a sense of humour with his efforts, t,o win Ann Harding’s favour. He plays the-role of a dashing Italian Court, an- ardent wooer who pursues her from his native country back to America, blithely refusing to accept “No” for an answer and cheerfully and wittily meeting each rebuff. Dickie Moore has an important role in the picture, and according to the four principals, acquitted himself like a veteran.
