A collision took place this morning at Kanieri, opposite Pl'alilert’s bakery, between a motor-car driven by Mr Hutchison, and a motor-cycle driven by Air A. Singer, of Kanieri. The motorcycle was 'damaged considerably, and the driver was shaken and received flesh wounds.

A beautiful block of greenstone was recently discovered by a Taranaki resident in a swamp at Pnekakariki. Tiie find has been offered to the trustees or the Wanganui Museum, and it is believed that negotiations are in hand lor its purchase. ’The block is 23in. long and 7in. thick and is approximately 1001 bin weight. H is of the hina kawakawa variety and is very highly prized by the Maori because of its distinctive flecks. It is understood that this piece, which is at present housed in the Wanganui Museum, is the largest of its kind ever to be found m New Zealand. It. is supposed that tho block is a relic of the time when To Rauparalia set out upon a trail of pillage and slaughter from the Waikato district to Kapiti Island, whore he finally made his headquarters.

The .Milos Hawk machine, one of the four new training aeroplanes purchased by the Government for loan to Aero Clubs, which lias been allotted to the West Coast Club, is the latest typo of machine, and is a tandem, open cockpit model. It is fitted with a. Gipsy Major engine, and has a top speed of abo tu 117 miles an hour and a cruising speed of about 120 to 125 miles an hour. The aeroplane is of an advanced training type, and i.s fitted for blind flying. For the last month tbe dub ha s had to suspend training as it has not had a machine available. ZK-AZD, which was damaged before the pageant at Hokitika, lias been undergoing repairs and a thorough overhaul, which have just been completed. The club’s other machine, Zlv-AAZ, is undergoing a thorough overhaul for a certificate of airworthiness, under tbe supervision of Mr A. Sutton of the Air Survey and 'transport Company, Auckland, who are the New Zealand agents for do Havilland aircraft. It is expected that the work will be completed in about a fortnight. The machine has been out of the air since Februarv 12.

For the autumn, Schroder and Co. have secured a very fine range of ladies and gents umbrellas that, are badly needed for rainy days—all new goods, latest styles.—Advt.
