B GRADE RESULTS

At the band contest to-night, the Wellington Tramways Band won the B Grade championship. Greymouth Civic Band was second, d - '
Judge Kerry said that, considering the difficulty -of selection, the performance of the ' winning band had more j£han pleased him, and he wished heartily to congratulate the conductor for the ■ great detail which he had got into the selection. He had been pleased also with such refinement from a B GVade band.
The judge pointed out the piece was selected for an A Grade contest in England last September. He suggested that' the same number should be set for the B Grade at next contest, so that those bands could get twelve months r solid practice. Following are the results:— Ist. 2nd.
B FLAT CONTEST The first, and third places in the B Flat cornet championship went to Woolston players. Judge Kerry again criticised .the thin tone of the cornets, although they had had some wonderfu!]v artistic performances. There were 24 entries, and the result is as follows
