HON W. NASH
NEW ZEALAND CONTRACT. WITH SHIPPING COMPANIES. (United Press Association— By Electric Telegraph—Copyright). (Received this day at 11 a.in.) LONDON, February 18. Responding to the toast of Imperial trade, at a warrant holders dinner, me Hon. W. Nash disclosed that he had signed a contract on behalf‘of New Zealand producers with British shipping companies, to which lour millions were paid on account of New Zealand’s trade. Such arrangements depended on reciprocity and co-opera-tion in the fullest sense.
FURTHER, DETAILS. (Received this day at 12 noon.) LONDON, February 18. Elaborating the Hon. W. Nash’s statement or a trade agreement, tho New Zealand office informed the Australian Associated Press that Mr Nash had signed a contract for three years at 21 per cent increased in freight rates. It is estimated £3,600,C00 per annum is involved on a tonnage basis for the transport of refrigerated foodstuffs in British ships. this is apart from freight payments mi wool and other non-rcfrigerable cargoes.

Mr Nash visited the Ariel Works, Birmingham, where he was originally an office boy, and rose to be chief of the costing department.
