GIRL INJURED
FRACTURE OF SPINE

A fracture of the spine was suffered by Jean Olliver, aged 12 years, younger daughter of Mr and Mrs AV. AV. Olliver, of Taihape, when a car driven by her brother, Allan, aged 17 years, went over a bank on the main north road about lialf-a-milc from the Taihape Post Office. Jean was seated with her sister Patricia, aged 13 years, in the back scat and her cousin, Priscilla McKenzie, aged 15 years, was in the front seat beside the driver.
Drizzling rain at the time of the accident made visibility bad. The car went across the road and plunged over a. bank, eventually coming to rest on its side on another road 3011 below. Jean Olliver was crushed by the car. Her condition this evening was reported to be very serious. Patricia Olliver received ■ superficial injuries, but was able to leave hospital after receiving attention. The other two occupants of the car, Allan Olliver and Priscilla McKenzie, were not hurt. The car was extensively damaged. Allan Olliver is a pupil of King’s College, Auckland, home on vacation.
