In the Sheffield Shield cricket match against Victoria, Queensland, which was out for 177 in the first innings, scored 477 in the second (Alien 00, D ; Tall on 90, Baker 06, Cock burn 35.). H. Filling took three wickets for 50 runs, Pearson three for 55. and L. O’B Floct-wood-Smith one for 107. A ietoria, which made 497 in the first innings, lost, five for 129 in the second (Hu'Ssotl not out 50, K. E. Rigg B L. S, Darling 17, R. Gregory 20). Cook took- two for 40 and Rushbrook two for 85. Victoria won by five wickets. COMMENT ON SELECTION. SYDNEY, January 19. Regarding the Test match, the cricket commentators generally approve, of the- Australian team, although some doubt whether it is wise that Sievers has been dropped for Chippcrficld.
