PRISON RIOT

CONVICTS AT LARGE. United Press Association —By Elertrn Telegraph—Convrightj. GUELPH, January 19. Twenty-six of more than 100 convicts wlm escaped during a riot in the reformatory yesterday are still at large. The Acting-Premier of Ontario, Mr H. 0. Nixon, promised that there would he no additional penalties if the fugitives return voluntarily. A small army of carpenters, plumbers, and electricians have started repairs to the. badly damaged reformatory. A spokesman for the prisoners said their grievance's included interior meals and a ban on the receipt of packages from outside sources, even at Christmas. All the injured are recovering rapidly. A later message says the voluntary return of fugitives during the niclit reduced the number at large to five. It was mentioned that no prisoners sentenced to long terms—the greatest being two years—are confined to Guelph.
