RECORD PRICE OF 37id. (Australian Press Association). SYDNEY, January 19. At to-day's wool sales, there was a very strong and general competition, with a particularly keen demand on American account for specialty wools. An Australian record price of 3"£d. was paid for ten bales from Yass. A crowded sale room applauded the announcement. A Yorkshire buyer waged a brisk bidding duel before a French buyer triumphed, and gained the offering. JAPAN’S PLAN. TOKYO. January lf>. The Wool Industry Control Association met at Osaka and sent a deputation to Tokyo to appeal to the Government to relax its nlan to admit only Australian wool by not sanctioning credits for other wool under the new exchange control regulations. This would exclude wool from New Zealand, South Africa, and South America.
