NOVEL FEATURES

MODERN ENGLISH FACTORY A new factory block, incorporating many novel features, is at present being erected in Birmingham for a firm of chocolate manufacturers. Special bricks are being used for the outside of the building so that the walls of th e factory will reflect sunlight into the streets below. Over 1,250,000 bricks and 2000 tons of steel are being used in the new building, while 10,000 panes of glass, covering an area of 30,000 square feet ar e being used in the construction of 500 windows. Tiles are being used for the floors to ensure cleanliness, while the. lower parts of the walls is constructed of glazed brick for the same purpose. This building is the fifth new factory block to he built by the firm during the past three and a half years.
