WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

MEETING AT KOKATAHI. The meeting of. the Kbkatahi Women’s Institute was held last‘Wednesday, there being a' good attelidame. A bring and buy' afternoon ‘was "held for the health "sipmp ’ campaign. A very interesting talk on her vis’t to Australia Vas given by 1 Miss Stark, which was very much 'enjoyed. The rolll call took :the. 'form a of-* “cures for burns or scolds.”.

Competitions resulted, best apron. Mrs -Cron and Miss R. WieMftz Ist equal, Miss M. Taylor third. ~ Bate shones :' M'ms" E. Meharry 1, "Mrs AMeharry 2, Mrs W. Houston 3. The afternoon was brought to a close by afternoon tea, served by the hostesses Mesdames Cron and Crough.

MEETING AT KOITERANGI.

The November meeting of the above was held at Mrs- Harcourt’s on Tuesday evening, there being a good /attendance of membersi Owing to the unavoidable absence of the president, Mrs Hai'court (vice-president*) took the chair. The minutes of* -the previous meeting :\vere read and confirmed, and correspondence dealt with. The secretary read' an interesting" letter received from Great Houghton' .Institute, Northamptonshire/-England, with whom' Koiterangi have decided to form a link lof friendship. This Institute also sent 1 , an English “Home' and Country”, and. their programme for 1936'in both of which members were very interested. It .was decided to hold a bring and buy stall at the December meeting, the proceeds to go towards the Health Stamp Campaign. Members were also asked to bring small articles to be sent as Xmas cheer to the lepers at Makogai. The roll call for the evening was a “Scottish ’Joke” and ' caused a ,good deal of amusement, Two entertaining competitions were won by Mrs Harcoui’t and Miss Joyce Michel. The points competitions were won as follows: Best rose, Mrs H. Diminick Vl, Mrs E. Madsen % Three pieces of shortbread: Mrs H. Dinmiick T Mrs W. Havill 2 and Mrs E. Madsen 3. j; Misses A. Havill and G. Higgins who were delegates to the recent Federation Council meeting at Rcefton, gave their report on-same. Supper was served by the hostesses, concluding an enjoyable meeting, • /
