MOTOR CYCLING
TRIAL RUN TO HOKITIKA CHRISTCHURCH, October 22. On Sunday the first motor-cycle trial from Christchurch to the West Coast will begin. The first rider 'to leave Christchurch will carry a letter of greeting from the Mayor ■' (Mr J.’ W. Beanland), to the Mayor of Hokitika (Mr G. A. Perry). ’Hie Canterbury Auto-Cycle Club, which is organising the trial, asked the Mayor of Christchurch to write th letter, to mark its riders’ visit to the Coast. The club captain, Mr A. Laurenson, will carry the message leaving Christchurch at 8 a.m. He will be followed at intervals by twenty-three other motor-cyclists. On Monday morning it is hoped that the visitors will be able to inspect the Rimu gold dredge prior to returning to Christchurch.
