OBITUABY
The death of Airs Shrives, wife of Air Joseph B. ' Shrives, of Karoro, took place yesterday. Deceased was a native of Greymouth and 47 years ot age. She leaves a husband, four daughters and two sons. Her father, the late Air Harry Weenik, died some Three months ago. Four brothers and three sisters are also left.

WHANG ABET, October 15. t The death occurred at Parengarenga last night of Colonel Allen Bed, agecl 66, afte r a distinguished career in peace and war. He took part in the Bccliuanaland, Alataboic. and Boer W'jus. He resided ii. Waikato for a number of years and became one of the most prominent public figures. . He came to the far north in 1914 and obtained a Dominion reputation for advocacy of, the winterless north. A talented journalest, he conducted the Knitaia newspaper until recent years, when illness obliged him to retire from puulic life.
