OIL DIVINER
AUSTRIAN IN ENGLAND
BELIEF IN HIDDEN RICHES

LONDON, Oct. 5
An Austrian, Professor Emerich Herzog, bolds the belief that there is far more oil and gold beneath Britain’s soil than is dreamed of—more oil than in Iraq of Persia. He means to go round England with his divining rod to survey the country’s hidden riches. He is a dowser much honoured in his own country.
“From a preliminary survey I made in England years ago,” he said. “ 1 expiect to find oil under a large area of Hampshire, Sussex and in the neighbourhood of Plymouth. And gold should he found in Wales and Cheshire -and around Warrington and Great Budworth.”
The British Government, impressed by tho reputation which has proeeded him, has invited the professor to submit a report on his methods. Professor Herzog believes he may bo of use to the British Army in Palestine, where tho operations in the interior are hampered by lack of water. Whitehall is sufficiently interested to give him a hearing.
