Further evidence for the defence was given in the Supreme Court to* 1 day during the hearing of an application to have probate of a will allegedly made by the. late Elizabeth Smith, revoked the will declared null and void.
Plaintiffs were Olive Judge ami ivv Cooks-on, both of Christchurch, and the defendant was the* Griardian Trust and Executors Company of New Zealand, Ltd*. ;< i
Dr Baxter said that lie met MLs (Smith" in the office of South (.British Insurance * Company iif November, 1933. He had been informed previously ill at Miss Smith had changed several of her investments, and that alio had been approached by share salesmen and appeared to be rather car ried a way by them. He had conversation with Miss Smith and after r.n interview said lie was not satisfied with her mental condition, and for the purposes of further observation he drove her home. Partly as a result of his conversation with Miss Smi’ih and partly as a result o( what he Had been told she was doing with her estate, lie formed the opinion shat slip was easy prey for enterprising share- salesmen, and he. wrote a report to that effect. Mr Barrowclough: What did she sav in rgard to these salesmen? Bhe regretted yielding to their persuasions, hut I thought it prooahio she would not he able to resist them if they came'hack again.
