TRAGIC SCENE
N.S.W. LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY SPEAKER .COLLAPSES AND DIES (Australian Press Association.) (Received this day at 1.35 p.m.) SYDNEY, July 221 There was a tragic scene in mo Legislative Assembly last night when Me f. T. Foster (a United Australia Party member) collapsed and fell unconscious across the table as lie was delivering an address. As :: he fell to the floor, members ( rushed to assist him. Two members, Drs. Webb and Fleck tried, with tire use of restoratives and by other means, to revive Mr Foster, but their efforts -failed.,v<. . ■ «. l)r Fleck, in a medical report to the Government, said that death was due to angina pectoris. (4 •Mr Foster, who was sixtv-nine years of age, had bad health during the session. Before be began his speech, Mr Foster asked for a stimulant say-, ing lie was suffering great pain, hut he deemed it his duty to speak on the subject '.treatment of feeder bus services) sq long as his strength permitted.
Mr Foster worked himself up to considerable excitement during Ins speech, and had just finished apologising to a member, whom he thought he had offended, when lie collapsed. The House adjourned until next Tuesday.
