The dispute has been taken out of the hands of the local employers by headquarters in Wellington. It is feared the trouble may extend, as the employers insist that the men must return to work as preliminary to settlement. GARAGES’ 44 HOUR week WELLINGTON, July 20. It was announced by the Arbitration Court to-day that garage attendants ■would work a 44-hour six-day week. The Union’s application for a 40-hour week, consequently, was withdrawn. In the employers’ case for the extension of hours for motor mechanics to 44 weekly, decision was reserved.
