FIVE INJURED WHEN DRUMS OF OIL EXPLODE. (Australian Tress Association.) (Received this day at 11 a.m.) SYDNEY, July 21. ; Fire occurred to-night in what is regarded as a dangerous zone in the city, at Surrey Hills, when the top Hoor of a five storey building, occupied by the Commonwealth Drug Coy., was found to be well alight. Large quantities of inflammable materials and liquids were ablaze, making a spectacular sight, and were witnessed for miles. Five firemen were severely bunied on the faces, arms and bodies, when two drums of oil exploded and sprayed them, necessitating their removal to hospital. The fire gutted the top and severely damaged the lower floors’ contents. MELBOURNE WAREHOUSE. MELBOURNE,, July 20. .. Fire destroyed a building covering an acre in South Melbourne, last night, and 'caused damage estimated at twenty thousand pounds. The firemen found the •'building, which was owned by Sargood,Gardiner Ltd., warehousemen, ablaze from end to end. A Less than a hundred yards away a thousand pijjple were dancing at Green Mill dance hall. To prevent panic, the doors were closed and guarded. The firemen anxiously watched a s the sparks spread over the hall. Fortunately none ignited.
