The many friends of Mr Cyril Coyle who was injured in a motor cycle collision some weeks ago, will be pleased to hear he is making steady progress towards recovery. Mr J. Woods, the Assistant Engin-eer-in-Chief, has been appointed to succeed Mr C. J. McKenzie, as Engin-eer-in-Chief, and Under-Secretary of Public-Works. Mr W. R. McLean, stationmaster j Te Aroha, has been appointed on premotion, to replace Mr P. W. Knights, as stationmaster at Stillwater. Mr Knights has been transferred to Addington. Confidence in the ability of Mr W. J. Jordan, M.P., worthily to uphold the position of High Commissioner for New Zealand, was expressed by the Mayor (Mr Ernest Davis), when he extended the best wishes of the citizens of Auckland to Mr and Mrs Jordan, at a civic farewell last evening at the Town Hall on the eve of their departure.
