WOOL SALES
SERIES CONCLUDED KEEN BIDDING AND CLEAR ANTES (United Press Association—By Electin' Telegraph—Copyright;. LONDON, July 17. The wool sales concluded to-day when 11,296 bales were offered, including 5272 from New Zealand, ancl 9894 were sold. There was a moderate selection, and with keen competition good clearances were effected. During the series 83,600 bales were offered' and 72,090 were sold. The Home trade bought 42,000 and the Continent 30,000.45,000 were held over, of which 37,030 were not offered. The total New Zealand sales amounted to approximately 35,000 bales, aTul Australian to 27,030 bales. A few days before the sales commenced a noticeable improvement was recorded through the trade, and consequently there w, V strong competition, especially from Home and German buyers. This resulted in the sales opening at a higher level than was anticipated. ' Later, Russian competiion so stimulated the market that an upward movement resulted in some cases.
