PRINCESS THEATRE. j TO-NIGHT ONLY. j “WIDOW FROM MONTE CARLO.” | A gay romance and sparkling comedy i is the Warner Bros, picture, “The , Widow from Monte Carlo,” which will i be screened in Hokitika for. the first time in New Zealand this evening at tne j Princess Theatre. This rollicking comedy drama, besides its laughter and love affairs, carries - plenty of exciting action, though even this is more or less shot with humour. The characters involve a playboy major, a widowed Duchess, somewhat flirtatiously inclin-' ed, her very proper English relatives and her more proper fiance, a very rich and persistent widow who is trying to crash society and an American crook who is a fugitive from justice., Warren William and Dolores Del Rio have the romantic roles. Others in the cast include Herbert Munder, Colin Clive, and Louise Fazenda. Also Cinesound news, musical, comedy, etc. THURSDAY ONLY. “THE FLAME WITHIN.” Though Ann Harding arid Herbert Marshall have worked at the same studios innumerable times they are seen together for the first time on the screen when Edmund Goulding’s production of “The Flame Within” comes to the Princess Theati'e. Other prominent players to be seen in this new Metro-Goldwvn-Mayer attraction are Maureen O’Sullivan, Louis Hayward and Henry Stephenson. The story, j dealing with the life and loves of a famous psychiatrist, is an original by ■ Gouldine, who, it will be remembered, j wrote and directed Norma bearer’s, nopular screen plav, “Rintidc.” Also news. 2-reel musical and Our Gang' comedy.
