WEDDING BELLS. '■* MONK—McMUILAN. The Presbyterian Church on Wednesday was tne scene of a very pretty wedding, creating widespread interest when Catherine (Kit) Alexandra Mc■Mulian, third daughter of Mr and Mrs H. MoMullan of the Empire. Hotel, Ross, was married to William John Monk, eldest sou of Mr and Mrs J. Monk, Kokatahi.; . The Rev. L. ! S. Dewar was the officiating clergyman. Mrs May presided at the organ and played the wedding marcii as the bride entered the church. The church was beautifully decorated by the girl •friends of the bride' and was filled to overflowing by the friends of the young couple. The bride who entered the church on the arm of her father, looked charming attired in a robe of . pearl satin shirred at the back to form a flowing train and the corsage had, cowled neckline. A hand embroidered tulle veil'fell from a peai’l halo .and finished on each side with a dainty sprig of orange blossom. She carried a lovely bouquet of chrysanthemums, begonias, carnations and maidenhair fern. On leaving the church a little tot, “Peg” Flaherty, presented the bride with a silver horseshoe.

The bride wa s attended by her sis ters, Nancy and Mary, as bridesmaids, the former wearing green and the lattei pale pink angel skin lacp, tight fitting 1:o knees and flaring at the hem line, The yokes of silver lame and silver girdles encircles the waist; and coroneets of flowers to tone. They each carried handsome bouquets of chrysanthemums and carnations and maidenhair ferin , Mr Jack Andrews acted in the capacity of best man and Mr Geo. Monk groomsman. /

After the ceremony at the church, upwards of lot) guests were entertained iii tile jLOtura ±iall where the usual leasts were proposed and duly honourr eci.' The white wedding cane was a special feature. The bride’s mother received the guests attired in a frock of brown crepe satin relieved with gold lame trimming and hat to tone, and carried a posy of shaded chrysanthemums. The bridegroom’s mother wore a becoming frock of blue morn* cain, also hat to tone. The happy couple left later en route for Christchurch, the bride travelling in a navy blue jumper suit, hat, shoes and coat to tone. Many valuable presents were received including several cheques, testifying to that popularity of the young couple. Mr and Mrs Monk will make their future home at Kokutahi.

CUMMING—PHILLIPS. A pretty wedding was celebrated at eht Methodist Church, Loss, on Friday, when Henrietta Elizabeth. Phillips, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs H. May presided at the organ and rendered suitable music for the occasion. The church was nicely decorated by friends. The bride who was attired in a shell'pink angel skin crepe de chine frock made on Princess lines, fijielv pin-tucked and neck line finished with cowl collar, fastened with a diamante" clasp, was given away -by her brother. Her" pale pink embroidered tulle veil fell in graceful "'folds from a coronet of orange blossous. Her bouquet was of pale pink chrysanthemums, roses and Scotch heather and veiled with fine maidenhair fern and finished with pink streamers. The bride Was attended by her sister, Miss Margaret Phblips, who was beautifully arrayed in a becoming frock of periwinkle, blue nngel skin crepe de chine and diamante clasps-bolding the cowl neckline in place, the sleeves being finely-shirred. She carried a bouquet of pale .pink and white chrysanthemums and maidenhair fern. Mr Geo. Small, of Hokitika ably filled the position of best man. A large number of friends .were en | tertained at the residence of the bride’s parents, and toasts were proposed anc sponded to. The bride cut a beantifu pink iced cake, which was distributee among the guests. Later the happ: roonle left en route for the East Coasi where their honeymoon will he* spent.
