FLYING BOATS

The “Herald” says the British Government has decided that a flying-boat service between London and Sydney will be inaugurated as soon as the new, fast boats now being built are available. This, it is anticipated, will be within a year. : ~ At the outset, there will be: two fly-ing-boat services weekly. Its extension is proposed, as soon as practicable, to New Zealand. The British Government has promised t,o contribute one holf of the cost ot Svdney-New Zealand service, leaving the balance to be defrayed by the Governments of the Commonwealth and and New Zealand.
The service to Sydney contemplates sending all first class mail matter between London and Sydney at three half-pence per half-ounce without surcharge.
