OBITUARY
MR RICHARD. COCK . (Per Press Association—Copyright). NEW PLYMOUTH, May 28. . The death has occurred of Richard Cock, aged 75, an early settler, a well known local body member, and a fprmbr business man. He was horn in Taranaki and was founder of the bacon industry in the province. Was twice Mayor of New Plymouth, and former chairman of the Harbour and Hospital Boards. ■He was one proprietor of the Crown Dairy Coy, then the largest in the Dominion* He was founder and director of the Sash and Door Timber Coy, founder of the Chamber of Commerce, and president and trustee of New Plymouth Savings A.ank since 1921.. He was chairman of the Building Society for 20 years. He was a well known Freemason. Mr Cock, when a former member of the Taranaki Rifles-took part in the Parikaki campaign. He was chairman of Ridd Companies, and X.Z. and Australia Mortgage Loan and Agency Coy. Mr Cock throughout his life took a keen interest in all activities affect-? ing the progress of the town. He is survived by a son (L. Cock of Auckland) and a daughter (Mrs' C. Williams of New Plymouth.)
