The method, one of several which Scotland Yard is trying to check in it effort to “clean out” alien criminals is said to be simpler and involve less risk of discovery thin other means.
A shaman’s certificate which has hi . name and description, written in'ordi nary ink, on the first two pages, and iiis record on. succeeding pages, can be bought by an accomplice in the Eas End for a price whLh usually ranges between £8 and £25.
The accomplice sends it to his friend waiting in a foreign port.
The new owner e.ases and substi tutes whatever details of description lie deems necessary.
He then becomes a member of the crew of sjt ship bound for Britain an enters the country with no more formality than an ordinary Customs search.
The seaman who has parted with his certificate dm easily obtain another stating that he has lost it.
