FELL INTO SEA

q AUCKLAND HARBOUR .RESCUE AUCKLAND, January 14. A prompt rescue was effected by the mate of the ferry steamer Takapuna. when a middle-age man, after disembarking from the ferry at the Bayswater wharf, slipped on the wet surface and fell into tho harbour. Although he suffered from shock and cramp, the man was not injured, and went home after being examined by a doctor. The ferry was berthing when the accident occurred, and there was little space between it and the wharf. The man, wfio fell about 15 feet to the water, wa s fortunate to to be crushed. He was wearing an overcoat, and quickly reappeared oil the surface. His fall was heard by the mate, who was able to drag him aboard without difficulty. The shock and cramp in the legs resulted in the man being temporarily unable to walk. He was carried ashore and placed in a motor-car, in which he was taken to a doctor.
