: Exploratory work at Onepoto, Lake Waikarempana, in connection with improving the hydro electric scheme, em« ploying upwards' of one hundred men, closed down last night by instructions 1 from -the Public Works Department at Wellington.

No reason is ascertainable, but it is remembered the Hon. R. Semple was very reticent .concerning this undertaking when he recently visited, the district, on which occasion he descended a shaft to inspect, the class of country in which the work was being carried out.
