N.Z. CHAMPIONSHIPS. RINK PLAY. (Per Press Association, Copyright). CHRISTCHURCH, January 15. After rain overnight, the weather was dull'and threatening, this morning, when post-sectional play in the Dominion rinks championship started. The greens were a trifle on the dead side, but drawing well. Towards noon, further heavy rain fell. The play was carried on under the life system in the rinks, all the ~ teams starting off with two lives. The pairs were played on the sudden death principle. Of the visiting New South Wales players none survived in tho rinks, and only one combination has survived to contest the finals at the pairs. . - After three rounds of post-sectiona(| play to-day, nineteen rinks remain to fight out the Dominion bowling championship. Five have two lives, and the other fourteen one life, so that one defeat will eliminate any one of them. The greens were heavy after overnight light rain, and drizzling showers in the early part of the day made all tho greens slow. The following remain in the rinks championship:— Two lives: Dunedin (Anderson), Canterbury (Howarth), Edgeware (Gagliardi), Roslyn (Tyrell), West Harbour (Veitch). One life: Canterbury (Russell), Onehunga (Livingstone), Keiburn (J- R. Smith), 'Shirley (Ramsay), Auckland (tire), Auckland (Walker). Hawera (Bull), Hataitai (Brighting) West End, Auckland (Bremner), Balbacewan (Ferguson), Canterbury (Ives), Linwood (Wilson), United (E. Smith), Napier (Beer). . SINGLES CHAMPIONSHIP. First round—King (Elmwood) 20, Whibley (Greymouth) 8. - \- PAIRS CHAMPIONSHIP. First round—Morris (New \ South Wales), 21, beat Hutchison (Dunedin) 20. ' Brass (St. Albans) 19, beat Conder (Lyall Bay) 18. McNish (Canterbury) 22, beat Law- . rie (Island Bay) 20. •. Players eliminated were Hutchison, Lawrie and Conder. > , SECOND ROUND.
