Forbes replied that the matter had been referred to- TheMinister of Ecffic'a'tion, wild replied' that, at no time, had he suggested a departure from the existing policy of free, 5 compulsory, secular education. The Minister also said.: he deemed it his duty to visit private schools whose children were examined by .his -insepet-. ors, and it was.frongtp assume that .a few words of appreciation of the woiu being done indicated any change of.policy.' ... . Mr Forbes stated the Government at present had no intention of changing the existing policy.
