BORING FOR GOLD
CROMWELL FLAT SCHEME. DUNEDIN, July 29. Word has been received in Cromwell that British Developments, Ltd*, has arranged for the despatch of a Keystone drilling machine to Cromwell Flat next .week, and J. Williamson and Company’s field engineer is to begin scout drilling on Cromwell Flat. The company already holds options from ia large number of those, who originally pegged areas on the flat, and has been busy iu an endeavour to consolidate the claims as far as possible, so as to secure an area of sufficient size to warrant the introduction of capital from abroad.
The company states that ample funds are available for prospecting and that unlimited privately-subscribed capital is available to develop the major mining project if consistent low-grade values are disclosed.
At the last sitting of the Warden’s Court, the company’s solicitor was successful in having a number of the amounts fixed by the warden as security considerably reduced by giving an undertaking that prospecting would be confined to boring only. A substantial sum was thereupon deposited in Court afl security against surface damage while boring operations are in progress.
