DOTTING OWNER’S SUCCESS. AUCKLAND, July. 8. ' During the past 12 yea.* the Dunlin trotting owner, Air «• J. Baito IIUS won £55.211 in stakes. In spite ok the large decrease in prize-money as compared with the 1925-26. period, when the New Zealand Trotting Cup was worth £3OOO, Mr Barton’s winnings for the season about to end aie ie largest during his association with ie sport, his trotters and pacers having won 25 races and £7354 in stakes. In 15)95-26 Mr Barton’s stable earned £7318, but Mr J. »• McKenzie beaded the list for that period with LiodU, which still remains a record. The honour of being at the. top ot the list of winning owners has been enjoyed by Mr Barton on six occasions. He lies performed the hat trick by being first past the post for the last three seasons. Mr Barton usually has from eight to 12 houses in regular training, and lie is a game buyer and a liberal patron. He prefers to purchase horses who have proved themselves in races and to pay the price accordingly.. He has eleven horses in preparation for the new season. They are Indianapolis, Tempest, Bongomai, Teviot Downs, Brand Mogul, Black Jester, Chemvood, Bracken, Huon Voyage, Carl and Homeward.
