RADIANT PRINCESS

WARM WELCOME TO DENMARK COPENHAGEN, July. 2. The capital of Denmark gave Crown Prince Frederick and his bride, Princess Ingrid of Sweden, an enthusiastic welcome when they arrived in Copenhagen from Stockholm in the Royal yacht. Hundreds of thousands of people, many of whom had waited since early morning in the gaily beflagged street*), cheered their new Princess and pelted the open coach with flowcia. Thirty aeroplanes of the Danish Air Force circled overhead, and the guns of warships fired a salute as the Rovai couple landed. King Christian was the first to welcome Princess Ingrid to her. new home. He kissed her and handed her a bouquet of dark red roses. She wore a costume in her favourite shade, of light blue, with hat to match, and the Crown Prince was in naval uniform. As the Royal Party drove to the castle of Am&lienborg through the cheering crowds Princess Ingrid radiant with happiness, waved her bouquet. After luncheon at the castle the Royal couple drove for an hour through the inner part of the city in an open coach drawn by four horses. So eager were the people to greet them that the police had great difficulty in keeping a wa.v clear for the horses. Within a few minutes the coach was almost covered with tlie flowers thrown by the crowd. After their return to the castle the couple appeared on the balcony and were greeted with more cheers and the singing of the National Anthem. Prince Frederick made a short speech, saying: “I thank you all very much for the ''magnificent welcome you hav egiven to niy bride and myself. Wo are completely overwhelmed hv the evident heartiness and real love you have shown us.” The Princess thanked the people with a charming gesture, raising both arms above her head.
