ATTACK IN CAR
A PECULIAR AFFAIR (Per Press Association, Copyright). NEW PLYMOUTH, June 27. An allegation that he was 'attacked by a man with a piece of lead pipe while driving a car in Ngahauranga Gorge, Wellington, this morning was made by a Normandy man, Mr Allen Kennedy to-night. Mr Kennedy said he was on bis way to the Thorndon Station to join the Taranaki Express, lie was overtaken by a luxurious car. the driver of which offered him a lift. He adniped the car, and he was permitted to drive it through the Gorge. He said that on turning through the Gorge, he saw, in the mirror, his companion raise his hand with the lead pipe weapon and strike. He (Kennedy) ducked, and the blow struck him on the side of the head. A struggle ensiled, and several blows wore struck. Then (Kennedy jumped out of the car. He offered to fight his assailant. The ■challenge w a s accepted. Kennedy struck the man on the jaw. Then he jumped into the car, and drove ft to Johnsonville where he oauglit the express. Kennedy spifl that the (Police at Palmerston North were informed 01 th e matter.
