Stoner has been reprieved and sentenced to imprisonment for life. Sterner, a 19-year-old chauffeur, became enamoured of his employer s wife, Mrs Kattenbury, and in a fit of jealousy murdered Mr Kattenbury, who was an elderly man. Mrs Kattenbury’ was jointly charged with Stoner, but was acquited. Stoner was sentenced to death. Mrs Kattenbury a few days later committed suicide by stabbing herself and leaping into a river.
