WESTRALIA PLEA
FOR SECESSION
INDICTMENT OF COMMONWEALTH

The secession delegation has issued a statement, expressing disappointment at the select committee’s report, and fears its adoption "'ill occasion some resentment in Western Australia.■ The only inference is that no matter what injury or injustice is inflicted, •or what redress is attempted, no action can he taken by the Imperial Parliament. The, delegation is prepared to deniQiistrate its :ny'tries are not the natural consequences of entry into the Federation, hut Federal abuses of the constitution, the final consequences of which will lie impoverishment of many Western Australian industries, the destruction of prosperity, and impediment to the State's development. Western Australia's plea was that the Commonwealth violation of the 1900 Act destroyed iher sovereign rights, “We strongly feel Parliament should not adapt, th? report, hut at least receive the petition and investigate the. serious indictments against the Commonwealth. Otherwise . any future action must he decided by t.he Western Australian people.”
