Increasing fears of devaluation by the remaining European gold bloc currencies, caused another rush to buy sterling and a flight of capital to London ]e t l to a weakness in French and Swiss francs and the Dutch gilder. • Rumours of increasing enthusiasm for devaluation among Frenoh business interests precipitated heavy sales of French francs.
