Mr Mrs Forbes wlere met bv menibeis o the Coalition Party, before ms departure for the Old Country. Mr Coates, on behalf of the Party, expressed the esteem and goodwill in which Mr Forbes was held. ‘During his reply, Mr Forbes said that, although the invitation came lor ~ New Zealand representative to be present at the Jubilee celebrations on the eve’of the General Election, it was felt that as the Prime Ministers of the other Dominions would he present, tbe omission of the New Zealand Prime Minister would be noticed, and it was felt therefore, that he should represent New Zealand.

He said that questions of marketing, especially that of meat, would also be discussed while the Dominion’s representatives were at Home. and lie thought it would be to New Zealand’s advantage if Mr Coates were present with him “to pass the ball to when things became sticky.” Even it there wer ea considerable amount of work to be done in New Zealand, and even if it meant some inconvenience, he thought Air Coates should go Home. Mr Forbes complimented the members of the Party on the wav they had remained loyal to the Party during the session, and he felt that he was leaving New Zealand in safe hands.
