MEDICAL SCHOOL

RESTRICTION ON STUDENTS WELLINGTON. March 27. The Senate of the University of New Zealand has issued a statement legarding the restriction of the number of students entering the Medical School of Otago University, setting out the following points:—

(]) The restriction of the number of entrants is made solely by the Council of Otago University therefor. (2) The selection of entrantts is made hv the Council of Otago University upon the recommendation of the Director of the Medical School upon the scheme of selection agreed upon between tile council and the executive committee, any technical difficulties arising in the selection by that scheme being settled by a committee appointed to carry out the scheme. ' . \3) Responsibility for extending the accommodation at Otago Unversity and/or the Government. (4) The Senate Ims set up a special committee to consider the. whole system of medical education in New Zealand and to report to a meeting of the senate in 1936. and meanwhile lias kept the Government m touch with the situation by giving it full information as to the foregoing mat ters.
