CROWNING INSULT
NAZIS ISSUE PAGAN CALENDAR. (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) BERLIN, February 18. The per man ’Minister <jf 'Agriculture, Herr Darre. has published a new calendar “for every German farmer.” The Catholics are incensed at this calendar, and regard it as the crowning Nazi insult. The calendar omits all of the names of the saints’ days and it explains that holidays are, Tor the future, to be incidents in German history. For example, Good Friday is to bo in memory of 4,500 Saxons “murdered by Charlemagne the Butcher.” Easter is to be an Easter “Last of the sunrise.” The Day of Assumption is to be “Thor’s descent after the hammer.” Asli Wednesday is to be “Ash Wotan’s day.” December 25 >s to be the "Teast of “the learning of Yulctide and the appearance of a goat .star on Valhalla’s roof.”
