(Received this day at 10 a.m.) TOKIO, February 8. The newspaper, “Nichi Nichi,” in an editorial, says preliminary Japanese negotiations with Canberra regarding a trade pact have reportedly ended with the understanding that Japan maintains her purchases of Australian goods, land that Australia buys more Japanese goods, especially sillc and cotton goods, on the principle oi reciprocity, after which the drafting of the treaty ■will begin.
Japan has been buying fourfold from Australia, which is most one-sided. Therefore, Japan is glad Australia is recognising the importance of Japanese relations and friendship. v
