SCOUT CONTINGENT RETURNS,

AUCKLAND, January 21. The Contingent of eighty scouts from North Auckland, Auckland City, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, and M'anawatu districts returned to New Zealand by the Monowai after attending the Jamboree held in connection with the Melbourne Centenary celebrations. In addition to the New Zealand contingent, a party of eight Fijians, who also attended the jamboree, arrived by the Monou<ai. They will remain in New Zealand for a fortnight before returning to Fiji.

PACIFIC CONDITIONS STUDY.

CHRISTCHURCH, January 22

The establishment of a School of Pacific Ocean Studies, where peoples and facial movements of the Pacific may be observed and studied, and where New Zealanders may be fitted for the administration of Pacific territories, is provided for in the will of Professor Macmillan Brown. The School. will be established at Canterbury College. -Most of the residue of the estate, which will be sworn at under £70,000, will revert to Canterbury College.
